Your freight collection timing is the date or window confirmed for the booking. It depends on the service, route, vehicle availability and site arrangements. A preferred date entered in the enquiry form is not itself a confirmed collection appointment.

Give realistic opening hours

Tell the manager when staff and loading equipment will be available. Include breaks and any last entry time at the gate. “Open until 17:00” may be misleading if the warehouse stops accepting vehicles at 16:00.

Commercial collections are generally planned around working-day operations. Weekend, public-holiday or out-of-hours requests need individual confirmation; do not assume they are included in a standard quotation.

Why an exact arrival time may be unavailable

On a shared route, earlier collections, unloading delays and traffic can affect the driver’s arrival. A collection window allows those operations to be coordinated. If your location can receive a vehicle only at a precise time, explain that at quotation stage so a suitable option can be assessed.

Before the expected day

  • Complete the agreed booking and payment arrangements.
  • Finish packing and verify the shipment details.
  • Check that labels and required documents are ready.
  • Make sure the site contact can answer the telephone.
  • Keep the loading point clear and equipment available.

If the window has passed

Contact your manager with the booking or tracking reference, site availability and any new constraint. The manager can check the carrier’s position and confirm the next arrangement. An automatic next-day collection should not be assumed.
