Driver assistance depends on the service and equipment agreed for your booking. Some suitable pallet movements can use a vehicle’s tail lift and pallet truck; other loads require the shipper or consignee to supply equipment and competent operators.
Describe the task precisely
“Help with unloading” could mean operating a tail lift, carrying cartons upstairs or positioning industrial machinery. These are different jobs. Tell the manager what must happen between the vehicle and the final handover point.
| Task | What needs agreement |
|---|---|
| Pallet to ground level | Appropriate tail lift, pallet truck and site conditions |
| Forklift loading | Suitable equipment and authorised site operator |
| Crane handling | Lifting plan, equipment and responsible personnel |
| Inside carrying or positioning | Separate service scope and feasibility |
Do not assume manual lifting is included
The driver cannot be expected to lift a heavy or awkward unit by hand because the site lacks equipment. Goods need safe handling arrangements that fit their weight, dimensions and stability.
Likewise, a booked tail lift does not mean the driver will unpack, assemble or install the product. Keep the service description focused on the actual work required.
Before accepting the quote
Confirm who loads at collection, who unloads at delivery and which equipment is included. Give photographs for difficult cargo or access conditions. If the requirement changes, contact your manager before the vehicle arrives.
An unsafe or unworkable loading situation may prevent the operation from proceeding as planned. See collection-site preparation, delivery-site preparation and curbside delivery.
