If freight arrives damaged, make the situation safe, record what you can see and notify your Cargo Euro Hub manager promptly. Good evidence at delivery helps establish the condition of the shipment and what needs to happen next.
At the receiving point
- Check for hazards before touching or moving the goods.
- Compare the received units with the delivery record.
- Describe visible damage or shortages specifically on the receipt.
- Photograph the overall load, affected units, packaging and labels.
- Keep a copy of the signed or electronic delivery record.
Avoid a vague note such as “damaged” when you can describe the affected unit and visible condition. A reservation should record observations, not an unverified explanation of who caused the problem.
After unloading
Separate affected goods where safe and preserve the packaging. Do not dispose of, repair or return them before obtaining instructions, unless immediate action is necessary to prevent injury or further loss. Document any urgent action and its reason.
Report without waiting
Send the shipment reference, delivery date, damage description and available photographs. Further value and repair evidence can follow. Notification requirements and deadlines depend on the applicable rules and cover, so ask the manager to confirm them promptly.
Whether goods should be accepted, refused or partly received depends on safety and the circumstances. Contact the manager for instructions instead of assuming refusal is always the correct response.
