A freight claim is assessed by connecting the evidence with the rules and cover applying to the shipment. The review needs to establish what was transported, what happened, which parties may be responsible and what loss is supported. Reporting damage does not predetermine the outcome.
Main assessment questions
- Are the shipment, parties and affected goods clearly identified?
- What do the collection and delivery records show?
- When and how was the damage or loss discovered?
- What evidence supports its cause and extent?
- Which carriage rules and insurance conditions apply?
- How has the claimed amount been calculated?
Why more information may be requested
The reviewer may need missing photographs, weight details, a value document or a repair assessment. An inspection can be appropriate where the nature or extent of damage is unclear. Keep the goods and packaging available and coordinate any proposed repair or disposal.
Amounts and timing
The supported commercial loss, a legal liability limit and an insurance limit are not necessarily the same amount. The assessment may also consider exclusions, excesses or relevant contractual provisions.
No standard settlement time is promised for every Cargo Euro Hub claim. Complexity, evidence and responses from the involved parties affect progress. Ask your manager for an update using the claim or shipment reference.
Keep correspondence in one clear thread and respond to document requests accurately. This reduces avoidable delays without implying that a particular decision is guaranteed.
