A freight forwarder arranges transport; a carrier performs the carriage. Cargo Euro Hub acts as a forwarder and coordinates commercial shipments with direct carrier partners. The contract and applicable rules determine the legal responsibilities of each party.
| Topic | Freight forwarder | Carrier |
|---|---|---|
| Main activity | Organising a suitable transport arrangement | Moving goods using transport equipment and personnel |
| Shipment planning | Bringing route, cargo and handling requirements together | Planning vehicle operations and carrying out accepted instructions |
| Customer communication | Quotation and coordination for the booked service | Operational contact where needed for collection or delivery |
| Equipment | Selecting an appropriate transport solution | Providing the agreed vehicle and equipment |
Why the distinction matters
The name on a quotation may differ from the name on the collecting truck. That is consistent with a forwarded shipment and does not change the need for a clear booking reference and agreed collection details.
If something changes, tell your Cargo Euro Hub manager. For example, a new delivery address must be coordinated with routing, documents and the receiving location; telling only the driver may not update all of those requirements.
What about insurance and claims?
Carrier liability, a carrier’s insurance policy and separate cargo insurance are different subjects. Do not infer a guaranteed compensation amount simply from the fact that a carrier is insured. The actual policy, loss circumstances and applicable terms matter.
Keep quotations, accepted instructions, collection records and delivery documents together. They help identify what was agreed and what happened during transport.
For a new enquiry, use our quotation checklist. For existing freight, have your tracking or booking number ready. Read the difference between liability and cargo insurance before deciding how to protect valuable goods.
