An EPAL Euro pallet has a standard footprint of 1,200 × 800 mm and a height of 144 mm. Those are the dimensions of the empty load carrier. A freight booking must describe the complete palletised unit, including the goods and packaging above it.

The pallet specification does not set the carrier’s shipment limits or a vehicle tail lift’s capacity. Those must be checked separately for the service.
Measure the finished unit
If cartons sit within the pallet edges, use the pallet’s footprint and the total height from the ground. Include caps, corner protection or other packaging that increases the outside size.
If the goods extend beyond the base, declare the full footprint and discuss a more suitable pallet. Do not report 120 × 80 cm merely because the base is a Euro pallet.
Inspect the pallet’s condition
Check for broken boards, loose blocks, protruding nails, contamination or other damage affecting safe use. A recognisable pallet format does not prove that the individual pallet is sound.
What about exchange?
An exchangeable pallet format and an agreed pallet-exchange service are different things. Ask about the arrangement before booking; do not assume empty pallets will be returned automatically.
