If the consignee cannot receive the freight, inform your Cargo Euro Hub manager immediately. Provide the shipment reference, the receiving site’s availability and any workable alternative. The carrier must confirm what can be arranged at the current stage of transport.

Before the vehicle is dispatched for delivery

Early notice gives the operating parties more options to review the plan. Explain whether the problem is a closed site, absent staff, missing unloading equipment or a cancelled warehouse slot. Each requires a different response.

If another authorised person can receive the goods at the same location, provide their name and direct telephone number. Make sure they know the inspection and unloading requirements.

If the vehicle is already on its way

The available options may be more limited. Redelivery, waiting, storage or a different receiving arrangement may involve charges under the booking conditions. A driver cannot necessarily wait until the business reopens.

Do not assume the goods can be left unattended, delivered to a neighbouring business or taken to a new address without approval. Any alternative handover should be authorised by the appropriate booking party and confirmed by the carrier.

Information to have ready

  • Shipment reference and original delivery location.
  • Reason the site cannot receive.
  • Earliest realistic receiving date and hours.
  • Alternative authorised contact, if available.
  • Any unloading-equipment or access changes.

Preventing a failed delivery

Share the transport instructions with the actual goods-in team, not only the buyer. Confirm site hours, holiday closures and required equipment before collection takes place.
