Business cargo and personal belongings
A retailer sending boxed desks to a warehouse is moving commercial stock. A manufacturer shipping display furniture to a business exhibition may also have a commercial freight requirement.
By comparison, transporting the contents of a private apartment, personal clothing or domestic possessions as part of a home move is a household removal. Placing those belongings on an industrial pallet does not turn the request into commercial freight.
What about furniture and used equipment?
Commercial furniture and used business equipment can be assessed individually. Explain who is shipping the goods, their business purpose, their condition and how they will be packed. Give the finished dimensions and gross weight of each handling unit.
Business freight should also have a practical collection and delivery arrangement. Carrying an unpacked desk through a staircase is a different task from collecting a protected pallet from a warehouse loading area.
Choosing the correct enquiry
For a genuine commercial shipment, use the freight enquiry form and describe the business goods clearly. Do not select a business cargo description solely to make a private removal fit the form.
