Retail and wholesale freight works best when the physical shipment matches the order and receiving records. Provide a clear package list, suitable packaging and the consignee’s delivery requirements before the transport is booked.
Organise the shipment for receiving
Record product or SKU references, quantities and carton or pallet identifiers. For mixed pallets, make it possible to connect each product with the correct handling unit. Keep the packing list consistent with the labels and purchase order.
Protect stock in a shared freight environment
Build stable pallets with suitable support and restraint. Do not assume retail cartons can carry the weight of a tall mixed load. Separate heavy items from easily crushed products and declare any stacking restriction accurately.
Obtain the consignee’s rules
| Requirement | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Booking | Appointment system and reference |
| Labels | Required format and placement |
| Units | Accepted pallet or carton arrangement |
| Documents | Purchase order and delivery note requirements |
| Unloading | Site equipment and receiving contact |
Declare product-specific needs
Food, cosmetics, batteries, aerosols and other regulated or sensitive stock may need an acceptance check. State temperature, hygiene or classification requirements explicitly; a general retail description does not establish suitability for standard freight.
Confirm the final quantities before collection. If the order changes, update both the transport booking and the receiving documents so the vehicle and warehouse are working from the same information.
