An engine should travel as a stable, contained handling unit with its condition and contents accurately declared. Before requesting transport, establish the engine type, weight, preparation requirements and any residual fluids or hazardous components that could affect acceptance.
Support the engine correctly
Use a suitable cradle, frame or other approved support on a base designed for the load. Prevent tipping and movement without placing transport forces through delicate fittings. Protect shafts, connectors, sensors and exposed openings according to the manufacturer’s requirements.
Deal with fluids and contamination
Have a competent person prepare the engine for transport. Disclose fuel, oil, coolant or other residual contents and obtain the required preparation and acceptance conditions. Do not describe an unprepared used engine as ordinary dry machinery.
Packaging must prevent leakage and contamination of other freight. Absorbent material can form part of suitable containment, but it does not replace correct preparation or regulatory classification.

- Engine type and new, used or remanufactured condition.
- Packed dimensions and gross weight.
- Support and packaging photographs.
- Loading equipment at both addresses.
- Value and purpose, such as sale, repair or exchange.
For a replacement-and-return arrangement, identify each movement separately. The return of an old engine may have different condition, value and customs requirements from the outbound replacement.
Check the finished unit before collection and retain photographs for your records.
